Oats – the amazing grain

Fortin processes many types of cereal, but none plays such an important role for us as oats. We have specialised in oats from the very outset, and are now recognised as the leading experts in the field of oat products.


Why do we focus on oats, in particular? Simply because it is an amazing grain! An all-rounder in recipes for savoury and sweet dishes alike. Rich in minerals, trace elements, vitamins and fibre, it helps to regulate cholesterol and blood sugar, is good for bones, teeth, skin and nails and helps to strengthen the immune and nervous systems.

Dehulled oats

We already obtain a product for industrial processing as well as for trading with the whole oat core, just by dehulling and hydrothermal treatment.

Oat groats

Oat groats are produced by cutting the whole oat kernel – mainly processed by our industrial customers.

Oatmeal flour

Oat flour, produced from the whole grain, is rich in protein and can be used, among other things, as a precursor for oat milk, as an ingredient for pressed products or breakfast cereals, and as a baking ingredient for sweet pastries or bread – whether in industrial bakeries or private households.

Oat bran

Oat bran is obtained from the particularly nutritionally valuable components of the oat kernel: the outer layers of the grain and the germ.

Large leaf oat flakes

These “crunchy” oat flakes are produced by rolling out the whole oat kernel.
Being particularly firm to the bite, they are perfect for overnight oats, muesli and muesli bars, for example.

Small leaf oat flakes

“Tender” oat flakes are made by rolling the oat groats, producing an all-rounder for muesli, porridge, baked goods, sweet and savoury dishes.
