At Fortin Mühlenwerke everything revolves around the best of oats, wheat, barley, spelt and rye: cereal products as the essential basis of a healthy diet.
We supply leading companies in the food industry – wholesalers and retailers as well as animal feed producers – in around 60 countries around the world, with flakes, groats, bran, kernels, flour etc., loose, in Big Bags, in paper bags and in customised retail packaging. And we are considered the European leader when it comes to oats. With several large storage facilities, we also operate multimodal handling and storage of grain and oilseeds for agricultural trade, cooperatives and the processing industry.

A TRADITION WITH A FUTURE
A long story in brief
The success story of this family business started with the foundation of Fortin Mühlenwerke in 1932 in the port of Düsseldorf, which grew to become one of the leading suppliers of cereal products – primarily oats – with customers from trade and industry around the world.
The company remains a family-owned business to this day, and its headquarters are still in Düsseldorf, but the construction of the new state parliament in 1982 made it necessary to relocate to a new site on the Rhine, providing an opportunity to build a new mill. After a major fire in 2011, the mill was completely renovated and now boasts state-of-the-art technology, as well as the logistics and storage facilities in the port of Neuss that we have operated since 2004.
For almost 90 years, Fortin Mühlenwerke have been keeping what their name – derived from the Latin word for strong, “fortis” – promises: the company and its products stand for strength, sustainability and health – good ingredients for the recipe for dynamic development with excellent prospects.
